Smart Home with Home Assistant

Apr 9, 2023

This project describes my smart home setup powered by Home Assistant, running inside a KVM virtual machine on a Red Hat Linux server.

It integrates Zigbee and Matter devices for smart lighting, motion detection, contact sensors, and keyless door access.

The system uses Home Assistant OS, virtualized via KVM, with ZHA for Zigbee and Apple HomePod mini as a Matter controller. Traefik and Authentik provide secure remote access. Additional features include adaptive lighting, guest mode, presence-based automation, MQTT integration, and connection to my UniFi network.

Backups are automated and synced to both GitHub and Google Drive. The system also includes a local alarm setup and HomeKit support via the Home Assistant bridge.
